I was looking at some items to sell on Ebay and brought some back from hols to try to sell them. There are other sellers selling exact same items with same EAN in UK market but shipping them from abroad. So I got some just to test them out and my listing was removed in 24h, while other sellers have had their listings for months.
Spoke to CS, they told me items have to be labelled in English, and even though there is instruction for use in English in the packaging, he did not reinstate the listings, as according to him, info has to be printed out in English on the packaging by manufacturer.
I got into contact. One item is partially labeled in English as well as other languages, but since the 1st language on the box is not English, according to Seller support, it’s not eligible for sale. The other one is not labeled in English, but leaflet inside the package has all the instructions in English. The biggest problem I see is that other sellers sold 100+ of one item, 700+ of the other, yet their listing is fine and not taken down.
Yes I suspect so. Its a bit of a mine field this one and its a very grey area as ebay now have detection on when you enter a EAN number so this may have triggered it. Its possible the other sellers are getting round this by having a different ‘sell from’ and ‘dispatch from’ location. Personally I would avoid doing anything like this moving forward, it will only take something for ebay to deactivate your account.
I’ll probably try to do a custom listing with my own photos and no ean, instead of copy pasting the listing from the other sellers in a couple of weeks and see what happens. Both items have private sellers as well as business sellers and one of those private sellers is shipping from UK, so I’ve no clue why their listing is still up and mine was taken down. Oh well, we’ll see.
You need to bear in mind that you should never copy and paste another sellers lusting nor use stock photos. Other sellers may report your listing for duplication and brands can report you via Vero for ip infringement.
