For those who have experience working with exclusive brand deals, what criteria do you use to select products?

Hello,

we are going to partner with a brand that’s offering us exclusivity to sell and promote their products. Before we finalize, we want to make sure we’re selecting the right products to promote under this exclusivity.

Any tips, best practices, or things to watch out for would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

If by promoting you mean running ads and driving external traffic, the best approach is to start with products that are already performing well compared to others.

How will you block other resellers?

We won’t block any sellers, but I think the brand will inform Amazon to restrict listings from other sellers. I think this is what will happen.

If a brand is offering exclusivity on products with low sales, should we still consider selling those products?

If you do market analysis and see potential for the future why not!

But again you’ll require marketing budget + a solid brand deal where you are sure that brand won’t retreat once u start marketing their products and spend budget.

What kind of agreement should we request from the brand to protect ourselves in this situation?

Do you plan on actually doing anything to help the brand?

Like market for them and help them sell or are you just looking to resell already existing skus that have demand?

If the second choice then you’re doing nothing to help the brand.

Yes, one of the main requirements for exclusivity is that they expect us to promote the brand, and then they will grant us exclusive rights.

I manage brands on Amazon, and when considering a project like yours, it’s important to understand that Amazon doesn’t restrict listings. Instead, Amazon informs brands that anyone with a new and genuine product can resell on the listing at any price they choose. As a result, you may not have control over the Buy Box. You’ll bear the burden and costs to make the listing sell, while resellers may have better margins than you due to this, potentially gaining control of your listings.

Thank you for this valuable information. However, I have some ASINs that are selling on Amazon on an exclusivity basis. I can show you those listings if you’d like to see them. They are taking 100% of the Buy Box.
