For those of you doing FBM, how do you manage shipping costs?

I just shipped my first product, and the shipping fee with Canada Post really wasn’t worth it.

FBA is starting to look like a better option.

Explore Amazon’s discounted shipping and other carriers. Compare your total FBM costs (shipping, packaging, time) with total FBA fees to find the cheaper option.

Yes, compare carriers for better rates, and consider FBA if shipping costs are too high. It can save time and money.

Use Amazon’s partnered carrier UPS. I heard they charge around 10bucks a box depending on size and weight.

Many FBM sellers in Canada run into the same issue, Canada Post can be expensive, especially for small, lightweight packages that should be cheap to send. To manage shipping costs, some sellers use third-party shipping platforms like netParcel, Stallion Express, Chit Chats, or ClickShip, which offer discounted commercial rates that are significantly lower than retail Canada Post prices. These platforms also integrate with Amazon, making label creation and tracking updates easier. Others batch shipments or limit FBM to higher-margin items where the shipping fee doesn’t eat up the profit.

Canada Post can eat into profits fast. A lot of FBM sellers hit that wall early on. FBA might actually be a smoother path long-term. I know someone who’s helped sellers like us optimize shipping and transition to FBA efficiently. If you’re ever curious, I’d be happy to connect you.
