FNSKU barcodes with product names cut off

Hi Guys,

When you do the shipping plan in seller central and print the product labels, you might have noticed that below the FNSKU code there is a product name as well. Now when I am designing my own customized packaging for the product, I should be using only the FNSKU bar code or the FNSKU barcode with the product name as well?

Will that be an issue to use only the FNSKU barcode printed on the packaging box? As long as the FNSKU barcode is readable, I think it should not be a problem to print only FNSKU barcode on the packaging without the product name that comes on the product label.

Any help is appreciated. TIA.

This is the official position:

Amazon barcode label requirements

When printing Amazon barcodes onto labels, make sure that the printed labels include the following:

  • Sufficient white space around the Amazon barcode and related text: (6 mm on the sides and 3 mm on the top and bottom)
  • ASIN or FNSKU
  • Product name
  • Item condition

Hmm, this is a new thing for me :see_no_evil:

I have always been cutting the wording and leaving just the barcode itself. No wonder that every shipment has several missing units not acknowledged by Amazon.

Hello @eliria ,

@AmazonUKForumRefugee laid out Amazon’s requirements. When the title is too long, it will be truncated. So, that’s normal. If you want the entire title on your FNSKU sticker, shorten the title.

If this is your own product, why not just use the UPC, GS!, etc. It is possible that the FNSKU can change, but the barcode won’t. You would also be able to sell your product on other platforms. which almost all require UPC codes.

I doubt if that causes it as only the barcode is used for receiving. I do recall you said you cut the labels from a sheet and stick them with tape. Maybe the barcodes don’t read (eg insufficient light margins) or the labels come off. It won’t be the name.

I always recreate all my labels in Word as the important info on the label description (ie size) never shows.

Yes, I am cutting the barcodes from a sheet, but since I am selling small jewelry, I have to shape the barcodes afterwards to ensure they fit on the polybags.

Barcodes need to be flat and must have a light margin (a blank space to the left and right of the barcode) of around 2mm.

You desperately need to improve your label printing. Let us know how you get on with the wireless printer I suggested.

@Kika I sell kid’s jewelry. From little charms to necklaces, watches, and gift sets. This picture is of some charms I had in FBA, and one that is unpackaged.

Using my DYMO and the 30334 Multi-Purpose Labels, they fit with room to spare. The packaging is 2" x 3". I wouldn’t trust them with anything smaller. :O(

This looks really cute, all I do is to put them into zipper poly bags without the bubble wrap.

Yesterday I was in a store with electronics, but they don’t sell these professional printers for labels. Just regular office or hobby printers that offer scanning and copying.

I will have to order online.

It’s really easy to do. They’re little bubble pouches. I bought them in all different sizes from a Chinese seller on Amazon. They were inexpensive, and the seller did a great job. I then put them in little Crystal Clear Resealable Polypropylene Bags - 3 x 5".

I buy everything online. I haven’t been in a store for decades.
