Extended Producer Responsibility updates in France as of 2024

Announcement reposted from Amazon Europe:

If you sell at least one of the categories of products subject to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations in France, check the below updates on categories of products and the requirements that impact selling partners who are not considered producers as of 2024.

How can I stay compliant if I am not the producer?

You must provide a valid UIN (unique identification number) and confirm that you’re not the producer of the products that you offer on Amazon.fr:

  • Obtain a valid UIN for the relevant category from the producer in your supply chain.
  • Submit your UIN on the Extended Producer Responsibility Compliance Portal.
  • Tick the box below the ERN field on the Extended Producer Responsibility Compliance Portal to confirm that you are not the producer, even if you have already submitted a valid UIN.

If you previously submitted the FR000000_00DIST UIN, be aware that this number will be marked as invalid as of March 5, 2024, which will make you non-compliant. You must obtain the UIN from the producer in your supply chain and submit it on the Extended Producer Responsibility Compliance Portal.

If you don’t provide a valid UIN and confirm that you’re not a producer, you can continue selling and we will provide you with the following benefits:

Which categories are changing?

Printed paper and packaging categories are merging: From January 1, 2024, the Paper category is included inside the Packaging category.

  • If you have a valid UIN for Packaging: your number will remain valid and no further action is needed.
  • If you have a valid UIN for Paper: your number will become invalid and your producer responsibility organisation will send you a new UIN for Packaging by end of February 2024, which you must submit on Amazon’s Extended Producer Responsibility Compliance Portal before December 31, 2024.
  • If you have a valid UIN for both categories: your UIN for Paper will be withdrawn, your UIN for Packaging will remain valid and no further action is needed.
  • If you don’t have a valid UIN: check Extended Producer Responsibility: France to know how you can comply with Extended Producer Responsibility requirements.

Failing to submit a valid UIN to Amazon before the end of the applicable reporting cycle listed on Pay on Behalf will automatically enrol you in Amazon’s Pay on Behalf service.

Catering and Food packaging new category: From January 1, 2024, France regulation added a new Extended Producer Responsibility category dedicated to packaged food and packaging intended for food, for households and catering professionals.

To provide goods on Amazon.fr falling into this new category, you must submit a valid UIN by December 31, 2024; otherwise, you will automatically be enrolled in Amazon’s Pay on Behalf service for 2024 and beyond.
