Don't have much funds so was wondering what the minimum I could spend on a product to get started?

Would like to try FBA, have been doing research and have an understanding of it.

I can reinvest any profit moving forward as this will be a side hustle.

Thanks

Purchase products depending on your funding abilities. Don’t invest more than you are willing to lose.

You can start by reselling your own unwanted items or buying from store clearance sales if you would like to save money.

What I would first consider is what business model you want to use. Either selling products or your own brand (private label) or reselling products of someone else’s (arbitrage)

That will help determine your next steps in starting

I personally find selling products of my own private label brand is the best way to go.

I would say begin by looking for something that is

  1. Not so simple that everyone thinks of it eg water bottles, yoga mats and phone cases are a no.

  2. Not so complex that it’s likely to be returned eg digital cameras, camera door bells, speakers etc

  3. Finally something that retails for between £15 and £30 as anything less than £15 will be hard to make significant profit without huge volume and anything above £30 will be hard to get a fast sale.

  4. Look for something that solves a common but simple problem by combining a few simple functions into a single product

Does this sound like a good boundary to start within?

You have not done enough research.

  1. Go to the dollar store and buy the 50% markdown stuff.
  2. List it on amazon, rebrand it if you have to.
  3. Study how long it takes to sell.
  4. Your time invested will become part of the opportunity cost in your model.
  5. Most importantly look at how much you actually have in gross profit.
  6. Now that you have done live testing for some factual information, proceed to making your decision.

Do you think wholesale can be sustainable? There’s basically and endless amount of brands that you can sell or am I seeing it wrong?

Also I am working on a private label store that should be going up in the next couple weeks in the baby niche.

No and Yes.

No, if you are planning on selling directly to buyers using amazon as the primary vehicle for moving product.

Yes, if you are based in China. What some are doing is using proxy sellers based in the USA. Ship goods to clandestine fulfillment centers located in USA. Many of the those goods come into the USA using grossly deceptive descriptions to avoid red flags that would trigger DHS, BATF, FDA inspections. They also appear to be avoiding income tax at state and federal levels AND pretty sure they are paying significantly less in selling fees on both online marketplaces.

No way in the world anyone in the USA can compete when you have others with all of that on top of the currency exchange rate issue…
