Does anyone know how to get a letter from Amazon as marketplace facilitator?

Hi there. I have a question.

I’m applying for my business license tax certificate from my city (not open business) such as sole private ownership. However they required me to provide a letter from marketplace facilitators that included the registration number of the seller permit. Then, just contacted Amazon but they can not provide it.

How are you guys experiencing that? Thanks all

This is a fairly common issue because Amazon generally does not issue custom letters confirming seller permit or tax registration numbers for local authorities, as they position themselves as a marketplace facilitator rather than a party to your local licensing process.

In practice, many sellers resolve this by providing alternative documentation, such as screenshots or PDFs from Seller Central showing account ownership, business details, and marketplace participation, along with Amazon’s publicly available marketplace facilitator statements or tax policy pages that explain their role in collecting and remitting tax where applicable.

Some cities will also accept a self-declaration or affidavit explaining that the marketplace does not issue such letters, sometimes accompanied by your Seller Central registration confirmation or payment report showing active selling activity.

It often comes down to educating the local authority rather than obtaining a specific document from Amazon.

Have you asked your city whether they will accept Seller Central screenshots or a written explanation instead of a formal Amazon letter, and are they specifically asking for a sales tax permit number or just proof that you sell through a marketplace facilitator?
