Does anyone have advice on how to handle this situation?

Has anyone experienced this recently? We didn’t see any such message from Amazon at all in the past five years, but we’ve encountered it twice in the last two weeks.

Apparently, Amazon is claiming that some of our units had the “wrong FNSKU” when sent to FBA (with no evidence or pictures provided to support this claim). As a result, they are confiscating our inventory and refusing to provide a return or reimbursement. This seems entirely outrageous and could cost us thousands of dollars.

Here’s the message we received from Amazon Seller Support:

Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,

Thank you for your patience while we investigated your shipment. We realize that a quick resolution is important to your business.

Our research shows that the 12 units of FNSKU XXXXXXXXXX that you sent with shipment FBAXXXXXXXX have arrived at our fulfillment center as an unexpected FNSKU when compared to your shipping plan. Unfortunately, we are unable to recover the physical inventory of the located item at this time, due to the error in shipment plan creation.

We are unable to reimburse or reconcile the discrepancies you have asked us to investigate for these items because of the error. As part of the FBA inventory reimbursement policy, you are required to send the exact items and quantities stated in your shipping plan.

Is this not about extra units/asins not being added in the shipment plan?

Never heard of such a thing. Crazy. Just another way for Amazon to reduce our profits.

This situation is understandably frustrating and could significantly impact your business. First, review your shipping plan and FNSKU labels to ensure they match Amazon’s requirements for the shipment in question. If you believe the error is on Amazon’s end, escalate the issue by opening a case with Seller Support and specifically requesting evidence, such as photos or inventory logs, to verify their claim. Additionally, consider contacting the Seller Performance or Account Health teams for further assistance, as they may provide more insight. To avoid similar issues in the future, double-check label accuracy before shipping and document your packing process with photos or videos as proof of compliance. If the loss is substantial and unresolved, consulting a professional who specializes in Amazon disputes might be worth considering.

80 units were sent to Amazon. Amazon showed 68 units of the product were received but that the other 12 units were a different FNSKU and they won’t be returning the items, won’t be reimbursing, won’t be doing anything. They’ve done this a couple of times in the last 2 weeks.
