Does anybody run into a UPC code for the product being different on the listing than it is for the exact same product you have ordered from a wholesaler?

I am trying to look in the catalog to list a product.

How do I get around this and is this going to cause problems?

Yes, this situation is pretty common, especially with wholesale products, because multiple distributors and sellers often list the same item using different UPCs, or the listing may have been created using an internal code, bundle, or older packaging version. If the product is truly identical, same brand, model, size, and contents, you can usually list against the existing ASIN even if the UPC on your product doesn’t match, as long as the customer will receive exactly what the listing describes. However, Amazon expects the UPC on your invoice to match the one associated with the listing if you’re ever asked to provide documentation, so this mismatch could cause issues during verification or an authenticity claim. The safest approach is to check with your wholesaler to confirm if the UPC variation is normal or due to regional packaging, or reach out to Amazon support to ask if listing on that ASIN is acceptable based on your product’s barcode. In some cases, you may need to request a listing update or create a new one with the correct UPC if the differences are significant.

This happens a lot. Most likely the original UPC triggered an error, so the listing creator used a different code to create their listing.

Try to create a new listing using the correct barcode and if it doesn’t work, you can join the existing listing, as long as the brand name and everything else is correct.
