Do you recommend setting up my account as a business?

Hey everyone,

I’m new here, I was wondering if I should start my account with a individual or business?

Thank you

It really depends on your goals. If you’re just looking to earn some extra cash from this business, operating as an individual can be a good option. However, if you’re considering this venture as a long-term business opportunity, I recommend establishing a formal business account from the outset.

Transitioning from an individual account to a business account can be quite time-consuming; the process with Amazon typically takes between six months to a year. During that period, your account will be closed while they set up your new business account. Starting as a business now could save you a lot of time and hassle later on.

There is a limit for individual sellers of 15,000€ in turnover and once you pass it, you will be required to sign up as a business anyway.

It depends on your long-term goals. If you’re just testing the waters and selling casually, an individual account might be a good start since it has no monthly subscription fee, but you’ll pay a per-item fee on each sale. However, if you plan to scale your business, a professional account is the better choice as it eliminates per-item fees and gives access to key tools like PPC advertising, the Buy Box, and bulk listing features. If you already have a registered business, it’s best to set up your account under that entity for tax and liability reasons. If you’re serious about selling, starting with a professional account is usually the best option.

When I started, I chose an Individual account to avoid the monthly fee while testing the waters. Once I scaled up, I switched to a Business account for additional features like better reporting and ads.

I also found that getting expert advice early on helped me avoid common mistakes and streamline my process. If you’re interested, I’d be happy to share some resources that helped me when I was starting out.

If you’re new to selling on Amazon, choosing between an Individual or Professional seller account depends on your sales goals. The Individual plan charges $0.99 per item sold, making it suitable if you plan to sell fewer than 40 items monthly.

The Professional plan costs $39.99 per month and offers advanced features like bulk listing tools, advertising options, and eligibility for the Buy Box, which can be beneficial if you anticipate higher sales volumes.

You can start with the Individual plan and upgrade to the Professional plan as your business grows.
