Someone, please help with a step-by-step way to create 6 different UPC bar codes for the same product.
I have a product that is coming in 6 different colours, Orange, Green, Yellow, Blue, Purple and Black
I bought UPC bar code on GSI. From what I have read, I understand that 6 different colours need 6 UPC bar codes one per colour
My challenge is, on GSI website, how do I create 6 different colour-based UPC bar codes for the same product? The product is the same size, capacity and weight. The only different thing is colour- 6 colours.
To create 6 different UPC barcodes for the same product with different colors, you’ll need to contact GSI’s customer support. They can assist you in assigning unique UPCs for each color variant of your product. They’ll guide you through the process.
Company Prefix: This is the 6-digit number that you received from GSI when you purchased your UPC codes.
Item Number: This is a unique number that you will assign to each color variation of your product.
Check Digit: This is a single digit that is calculated based on the other 11 digits of the barcode.
Click on the “Create Barcode” button.
GSI will generate a 12-digit UPC barcode for you.
Repeat steps 5-7 to create 6 different UPC barcodes, one for each color variation of your product.
Once you have created the 6 different UPC barcodes, you can download them or print them out. You will need to include the UPC barcode on the packaging of each product.
Creating 6 different UPC barcodes for the same product with different colors can be a bit tricky, as UPC barcodes are typically meant to identify unique products. However, you can use a method like adding a variant code to differentiate the colors. Here’s a step-by-step approach:
Log in to GSI: Go to the GSI website and log in to your account.
Access UPC Management: Find the section where you manage your UPC barcodes. This is typically in your account dashboard.
Create a New Product Listing: Create a new product listing for your item. You’ll enter all the common details for the product, such as the product name, description, size, weight, and any other relevant information.
Assign a Unique Identifier: In your product listing, you’ll need to assign a unique identifier to each color variant. You could use a suffix or prefix to the UPC to differentiate the colors. For example:
Orange: Add “001” to the end of the UPC.
Green: Add “002” to the end of the UPC.
Yellow: Add “003” to the end of the UPC.
Blue: Add “004” to the end of the UPC.
Purple: Add “005” to the end of the UPC.
Black: Add “006” to the end of the UPC.
Generate Barcodes: Use the unique UPCs you’ve created to generate the corresponding barcodes for each color. You can use online barcode generators or software that’s compatible with your barcode type.
Assign Barcodes to Product Variants: In your product listing, associate each generated barcode with its respective color variant. Ensure that the UPC and barcode match for each variant.
Save and Verify: Save your changes and double-check to make sure that each color variant has its unique UPC and barcode.
Print Labels: If you need physical labels for your products, you can now print labels with the UPC and barcode for each color variant.
Test Scanning: Before using these barcodes in your retail or inventory system, it’s a good practice to test the scanning of each barcode to ensure they work correctly.
