Creating a listing for FBA

Hello Everyone…
I am new to Amazon FBA and I am now registered for a sellers account in the USA.
I have been talking to manufactures in China from Alibaba and chosen some products. One of my products I had sent to my home as a sample, and now I am happy to purchase and send into a fulfillment centre.
However, I heard you have to make a dummy listing first. When I started to go through this process, it was asking if my product was branded and if so, I need to seek brand approval. The item is not branded and is sold by other people on Amazon, however the packaging does have a 4 word description on the box as to what is. No specific brand name or logo. I spoke to Amazon about 1/2 hour ago and the lady on the phone seemed to think I need to apply to be approved for this product.
I have many more questions, however what is the correct way to proceed? Thank You…

If your product is not branded and is sold by others on Amazon, you generally don’t need brand approval. However, if there’s a 4-word description on the packaging, Amazon might consider it a potential brand and request brand approval. To proceed, you can:

  1. Check Amazon’s Brand Registry: Verify if your 4-word description qualifies as a brand. If not, proceed without brand approval.

  2. List as Generic Product: If it’s not a brand, list it as a generic product without any branding information.

  3. Seek Clarification: If uncertain, reach out to Amazon Seller Support for specific guidance on your product and whether brand approval is necessary.

  4. Create Dummy Listing: You may create a dummy listing with generic product details to proceed with your FBA shipment.

Remember to comply with Amazon’s guidelines and policies for accurate product listing and successful selling. Good luck with your venture, and feel free to ask more questions if needed! Happy selling!

For these kind of products those you are sourcing from China are not branded items and you can list them as generic or with your own brand name.

But to list with your own brand name you need to print your brand name or logo on the product or packaging.

So amazon will ask for product photos with brand name and logo to approve your band name.

Hello @Zayn,

There is no such thing as a “dummy listing.” You will use it to convert your item to FBA. As mentioned by @mint_chocolate and @Iseeitasitis you will have to list it as Generic. You would not quality for Amazon’s Brand Registry.

If you are not familiar with the process of Delivering imports to Amazon, you will find the Article beneficial.
