Today, I received my first restricted product policy violation from Amazon. I had created the listing about three months ago, but never made any sales because my inventory was lost in transit. Since then, I haven’t sold anything on that listing, meaning it has zero sales. Now Amazon has flagged it with a policy violation.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
It’s pretty common for Amazon to flag listings even if they’ve never sold, because their bots scan titles, keywords, and product categories for restricted terms or attributes regardless of sales history. The first step is to review exactly what part of the product or listing Amazon flagged, since sometimes it’s just a keyword that triggered the policy rather than the actual item being restricted.
If the product genuinely falls under restricted categories, your best move is to delete the listing completely and acknowledge the violation in Account Health, which usually prevents it from escalating. If you believe it’s a false flag, you can open a case with Seller Support and provide documentation or a brief appeal explaining why the product isn’t restricted, though keep it concise and professional.
Since this is your first violation and you’ve made no sales, it shouldn’t impact your account heavily as long as you deal with it quickly and show Amazon that you understand and will comply with their restricted products policy.
You’ve created the listing and this means you are offering that product for sale. You must comply with the policies and the regulations.
Please share the screenshot of account health page.
You should remove the listing or submit an appeal explaining the inventory issue and zero sales. Make sure to check Amazon’s restricted product policies before relisting.
This is generally one of 2 things. Thr label is not predominantly in English including ingredients and use instructions (and nutrition label if applicable), OR the detail page does not include a photo of the ingredient panel (and nutrition label and or use instructions depending on product type.
In the first case, you need to close and then delete the ASIN. If it is the second you have to edit the listing to upload the missing photos.
Just because you didn’t create a listing doesn’t mean they won’t accept the edits, so if you can upload photos you should at least try.
