Combining orders

I know this has been discussed ad infinitum but, we’ve had a customer place multiple single orders (15) all of which if were for different customers would be normally posted 2nd large.

I am tempted to ship them all but combine them into one small parcel as they will easily fit together, and send Tracked 48.

Now, I know I am not covered in the case of an A to Z if doing this, but if I ship them untracked I’m not covered anyway, if the customer chose to claim INR for all of the orders. So my thinking is I would at least have proof of delivery with them consolidated and tracked, not to mention only having to pack and send one package instead of 15 and only spend £4ish on postage instead of £1.55 for each order. I know cost isnt the primary concern but it is just ridiclous we havent got the capability to consolidate orders. Ebay does it, and Amazon themselves do it.

I know I’ll get the responses of play by the rules etc but I’ve seen other sellers say they’ve done this without issue. But what would you do? Risk multiple INR’s / A to Z’s I can’t defend as sent untracked, versus, well multiple A to Z’s (except the one I enter the small parcel tracking) I can’t defend because I consolidated them.

EDIT I should add, I am only in this dilemma due to a spate of fraudulent INR’s recently because Amazon are sending customers email saying their package may be lost, ask seller for a refund. Its made me suspicious of customers playing the now widely publicised amazon inr fraud game.

Not sure where you get that from although others have said the same. In my view, you are covered.

I ALWAYS combine orders, if there is a financial benefit. There isn’t always.

Thanks.I must admit, you were the one forumite I expected to give me a ticking off for potentialy not abiding by amazon rules! Quite refreshing!

As far as Im aware you’re not covered, because you can only enter the tracking details (for the combined orders parcel) into one of the orders, so all the others, should the customer claim on them, are untracked on amazon’s system. Or do you enter the same tracking number for all of them? Please tell me how you do it normally… I know you said you use click and drop… do you simply apply postage to one of the orders, then manually enter the same tracking number into the rest on amazon?

This is precisely what I do.

Yes, I would combine them into a single package and send everything tracked.

Unfortunately, since I am not based in the UK, I don’t have access to the Small Claims Court, where you can easily challenge any fraudulent buyers.

Regardless of how I ship my orders, these days, Amazon never decides any claims in my favor, even if I have tracking and signature confirmation of delivery.

You, on the other hand can combine orders together and enjoy the protection for your own needs rather than appealing potential INR.

For the first time in many a year I actually had an A to Z for inr, which they’d refunded a customer, I appealed (only with a 2d code to show as proof) and they reversed their decision and gave me the money back! I couldn’t quite beleive it!

Consolidating the orders into one tracked parcel seems like the more logical and efficient option, given that untracked shipments leave you completely vulnerable to INR claims.
