Can they send my products straight to Amazon - and what would I need to advise the supplier?

Hey. UK Beginner here !

I’m currently speaking with a supplier in the EU to send inventory to Amazon UK.

Products are a “ready for retail” once dispatched with my private label.

It’s my first product, but its also 2,000 units. Will Amazon take that much?

I’m not yet registered as I’m waiting to make use of Amazon’s seller offers and services. Much appreciated.

Yes, they can send direct once you have sent them the required box labels (issued by Amazon when you have created the shipment on seller central).

As a new seller, it is unlikely you will be allowed to send 2000 units but more importantly, why would you want to send so much? You will pay storage from day 1 (although it is possible that there could be a free storage offer from Amazon). But are you confident you will sell it all before free storage ends? Remember that if you need to remove any stock, it is charged PER UNIT.

And be aware that you should be fully verified before sending goods or you may end up losing it all.

Hey there! Congrats on starting your journey! Yes, your EU supplier can send inventory directly to Amazon UK, but you’ll need to provide them with Amazon’s FBA shipment labels and packaging requirements to ensure everything is compliant. For 2,000 units, Amazon may accept that quantity, but it’s best to check your storage limits once your account is set up.

You may also look for an expert who helps new sellers navigate these processes, including preparing for FBA and private label compliance. Let me know if you’d like a recommendation, I have a friend who have been a huge help to others in similar situations.

Can I have their details please? It would be really helpful as I am in the early stages as well.

Unfortunately, this is the minimum order quantity.

I thought there were aged storage fees but not from day one. I am not planning to remove the inventory and will pay for PPC to increase sales.

There are plenty of people and agencies in the space. Please do your own research when choosing someone. I always recommend checking their LinkedIn profiles, as professionals are typically transparent about their work and services.

Make sure to check custom rules, as you might need to pay VAT and customs duties when importing to the UK. You will also likely need an EORI number.

Regarding the shipment, I would send fewer units to Amazon if it’s a new product since you don’t yet know how well it will sell. If it doesn’t sell within 90 days, you will incur long-term storage fees, so consider storing the goods in a 3PL warehouse. Once you set up your Amazon account, you may have a capacity limit (sometimes it’s unlimited, it depends). Amazon assigns a certain storage space for your inventory, and you won’t be able to send more until you demonstrate that your product sells well and requires additional space.

As someone already mentioned, your shipment and products must be labeled according to Amazon’s requirements. Some products can use manufacturer barcodes, while others require FNSKUs. Additionally, all shipments (both boxes and pallets) must have Amazon shipment labels, which are generated when creating the shipping plan on Amazon.

Yes, your EU supplier can send products directly to Amazon UK, but you’ll need to ensure they follow Amazon’s labeling, packaging, and shipping requirements. You should provide them with your FNSKU labels (if required), carton and pallet labeling guidelines, and shipping plan details once your Seller Central account is set up. Amazon may have capacity limits for new sellers, so you’ll need to check your storage allowance before sending 2,000 units, if needed, you can split the shipment or use a 3PL warehouse. Since you’re not yet registered, I’d recommend setting up your account first to access Amazon’s offers and confirm your inventory limits.

I would also suggest to the proper calculations to make sure your product has a significant profit margin as you would need to invest in marketing, influencers, PPC etc. Sales would not just start on its own. Many beginners forget about taking into account many fees and they end up with inventory sitting in the warehouse and no cashflow (remember that amazon usually withelds the revenue for a certain period of time so be prepared to have some extra cash for marketing, 3PL storage etc).
