I want to list a product and have purchased a barcode, but I’m unsure how to fill in the information.
I don’t have the package, or maybe I did something wrong.
If you are trying to list an item, you should use the barcode that is already on the product. If you don’t have the item yet, you need to get it first or ask the supplier.
If there isn’t a barcode, you can do what you said, in other words, buy a barcode but it must come from GS1 as that is the only barcode source that Amazon allow…

If what you are planning to sell is an existing branded product, then you shouldn’t be purchasing your own barcodes, which don’t match the product. If you don’t have the original packaging, then you won’t be able to sell the product as new, anyway. I would recommend you to put the product on eBay.

If you have purchased a barcode, you should have received a GTIN, which can be a UPC, EAN, or ISBN, depending on the type of product. If you don’t have the product packaging, you can derive the GTIN from the barcode number itself. If you bought it from GS1, you can look up the number in your GS1 account. If you purchased it from a third-party seller, ensure it is valid by checking on GS1’s database. When listing your product, Amazon typically asks for the GTIN in the “Product ID” field, and you should enter the full barcode number without spaces. If you’re unsure whether your GTIN is correct or if Amazon is rejecting it, you may need to request GTIN exemption for your product category.
