Evri didn’t ask me for my EORI number or HS code when I bought the shipment. On the other hand, yesterday I bought a label from ParcelHero (DPD), and they asked for every detail of the parcel. My concern is that the tracking ID provided by ParcelHero didn’t work on the DPD website, but I later received an email from DPD with a different tracking ID. I had already submitted the ParcelHero tracking ID on my Amazon page under DPD Classic.
So, my questions are:
Is it safe to use ParcelHero tracking, and which tracking should I submit on my Amazon page—ParcelHero tracking or DPD tracking?
For Switzerland you’re exporting outside the EU, so you should use a service that captures full customs data (HS code, value, origin, contents) and transmits it electronically along with your GB EORI, which is why ParcelHero asked for everything and Evri didn’t; if Evri’s service to Switzerland doesn’t collect electronic customs data or restricts cosmetics (especially flammables or aerosols), don’t use it or your parcel may be returned or destroyed.
With ParcelHero and DPD it’s normal to get an aggregator reference first and then a carrier consignment number later, but on Amazon you should enter the final DPD tracking number so the system recognizes the carrier and your Valid Tracking Rate and delivery metrics remain protected.
If you already entered the ParcelHero number, edit the order and replace it with the DPD consignment number so buyers and Amazon can track it directly on DPD.
For your pending order use Evri only if their specific international service to Switzerland permits your cosmetic contents and collects electronic customs data and proper CN22/CN23 equivalents; otherwise stick with DPD Classic, UPS, DHL, or Royal Mail International Tracked, and send a commercial invoice (three copies), declare DAP so the recipient handles duties and VAT, and avoid prohibited formats like aerosols or high-alcohol items unless the carrier accepts them as dangerous goods.
What about Royal Mail? I used Royal Mail shipping once, and they asked the customer for a customs fee at the time of delivery in Italy. Right now, I have an order from Amazon Italy, but the customer’s address is in Switzerland. I checked DPD, and the shipping cost is 45€, while Royal Mail is offering it for only 9€. However, I’m still worried they might ask the customer for a customs fee again.
