Does anyone knows if a 3rd party seller can act as an owner and register a brand in 2D transparency code, which then kicks all 3rd party sellers?
Actually yes, if the seller was assigned an Administrator role in Brand Registry by the brand.
Yes, a third-party seller can act as the brand owner and register a brand in Amazon’s Transparency program if they have control over the brand’s intellectual property, typically by being the brand owner or having a licensing agreement that grants them such authority.
Once a brand is enrolled in Transparency, Amazon requires each unit to carry a unique 2D Transparency code, which effectively blocks other sellers from listing the same ASIN unless they can provide the correct codes.
This can, and often does, result in the removal or blocking of unauthorized third-party sellers from the listing, as Amazon treats the Transparency-registered seller as the only one authorized to supply authentic, code-labeled units. However, if the 3rd-party seller registers the brand without actually owning the IP or proper rights, this could later be challenged by the true brand owner or other authorized sellers.
Okay and is there a way they can by pass if the brand doesn’t allow any 3rd party sellers to sell? Only allows brick and mortar.
I think no.
