Announcement reposted from Amazon United States:
The wildfires in Southern California destroyed more than 14,000 homes, and displaced thousands of people, leaving communities in dire need of support. While many LA-based retailers rallied to help during this crisis, less visible small businesses—many of which sell in Amazon’s store—also stepped up in remarkable ways:
- Kressa Peterson, founder of Shower Toga, drove north from Dana Point, California, to Santa Monica to distribute her portable shower kits to displaced residents. During the aftermath of Hurricane Helene last year, she partnered with the Louisiana Cajun Navy to donate $48,000 worth of units. She hopes to offer a similar level of support for wildfire victims.
- Justin Palmer, founder of iHeartDogs, offered the warehouse he uses to fulfill Amazon orders as a donation collection center for Greater Good Charities. His customers made more than 18,000 donations, including through Amazon wish lists. Palmer is also supporting displaced pets by funding evacuation flights.
- Cynthia Rojas, owner of Heliums Cyndibands, coordinates donations through local Facebook groups and has contributed nearly a thousand products for personal care supply boxes distributed by local businesses.
