Beware of what appear to be wholesalers

I have been receiving emails from what appeared to be a legitimate wholesaler for months. I decided to look at their price list. There are a few good products on the list. Products I can sell right away.

In anticipation of placing an order with them, I started to do a little investigating. I Googled the address. I can’t see their address (on a building, etc.). I called a business at an address that should be next door, or close to next door of the wholesaler. The business I know is legit (can see them on Google, their name is on the location/building, etc.) has never heard of the wholesaler. Tomorrow, I’ll call one more business I know is legitimate, near the wholesaler’s alleged address. These scammers can be very tricky and look legit until you dig in.

Another clue was, the “daily updated price list” has been the same for 6 months, LOL. I had not looked at the price list(s) until today. These scammers are smart. Sellers aren’t going to go around asking all the other sellers, “have you heard of blah, blah, blah”.

It’s difficult to find a good product to sell, so we don’t want to give our sources away.

BE CAREFUL

You brought up and extremely good point. I just replied to a post by @Kika and mentioned that a specific category for issues like this would be beneficial for others. Your post would be another one to add to the proposed category.

The ones offering wholesale lists are not suppliers / wholesalers.

They scrape contact information of suppliers from Google and then sell these lists for $200+.

Keep in mind, that by the time your FBA inventory arrives into FC, there will be 100s of other sellers sharing the listings with you. All of whom purchased the same list.

Anyone asking you to pay money for the sake of you having the ability to buy something isn’t legit.

Typically, you will find various Amazon Seller gurus selling the wholesale lists. They will offer them to you as something hard to find and special. In fact, there will be crowds of others who will be sold the same lists as you.

Take your time, do your research and you will find good suppliers on your own.

I know several that have used FBA boss academy paying them $7k for their course to “pick a winning product or you don’t pay”. They will not give you a refund and I know for a fact that they have “picked” the same product for several students. Total scam, save your money. They are paying for their lambos by selling the course. They don’t make very much selling on Amazon. Nearly all their money they make comes from duping idiots to pay $7k for their course. If you get in and ask pointed questions, they will kick you out of the group and also not give you a refund.

Good call. They are scam artists. EVERYTHING they “teach” is dated for one. The course isn’t updated but the Amazon course is always being updated. I mean, how can you be running a consulting company when you are putting out 10 “look at my lambo” videos a day. They have even “hired” people to do the product selection so they don’t have to do anything but cash checks. Their sales calls for the course are aggressive and pushy. They have removed their references to their 5 star trust pilot review because they were outed for buying reviews. Search #fbabossacademy on tiktok you’ll see some good info that people have dug up. All the “students” that have reviews on their website, are actually employees of theirs. So yea, be ware. Besides, to be successful at any business you have to dig in and learn it on your own. Consultants have their place but this isn’t it. Good luck and don’t wast $7k on there scam

I made a couple more calls, trying to verify what’s supposed to be a wholesaler. After calling a few businesses around their alleged location, I called the wholesaler’s number. After several rings, an answering machine/voicemail with a heavy British accent (supposed to be located in Allentown, PA, USA) picks up, I didn’t leave a message. I then proceeded to chat with the wholesaler on their website, I said I want to speak with a live person before wiring any money. I’m fairly sure the chat was generated by AI as the responses were generic, IMO.

Be careful probing them.

Your browser was finger printed and your IP address of your internet modem was also logged. When they have your IP they will launch an attack and breach your network. Plenty more to this.

About all you can do is use multiple VPN providers, set up a VM on your machine and rotate the MAC address. Other techniques do exist, this is the simplest for some “basic protection”.
