I’m sending a shipment to Amazon. I found some items at Ross, but those price tags are hard to remove. Once I did, there was glue left over. I’ve seen videos of people placing the Amazon barcode over it and applying a blank label over the UPC on the package.
It is always best to remove the store tags completely. You can use a hair drier or a Heat Gun to heat the glue, then a Scotty Peeler to easily take off the stickers. If there is left over glue use Goof Off to remove this.
Always make sure you take good pictures with the store tag, and manufacturer tag with upc showing before removing stickers. It is very important for when you have to defend yourself against inauthentic or damage claims. Plus other things can happen where you need pictures, we just use Dropbox to store ours.
Cautions:
If you’re using a Heat Gun be very careful, they get really hot really quick and they can also mess up some kinds of packaging such as plastic packaging for toys. Also when you set it down be careful, it has cooldown time.
If you’re using a Scotty Peeler be very careful, it’s sharp on all three sides and can easily cut you. GO SLOW with it until you get used to using it.
If you’re using Goof Off to remove sticker residue be sure it won’t mess up the packaging/product. Also if you’re poly-bagging an item that you used this in let the product air out. You can trap that smell in the bag.
Tip: you can also use white mr clean magic eraser sponges to get marker or scuffs off of shoes. I have even used this on some white clothing for small black marks. Other colors too, but getting off of the white is impressive. This doesn’t always work, so if there are damages just return the product.
I have a lot of advice on RA, my partner and I teach a whole course on it. I have been the main sourcer in our company for over 5 years. Ask me anything you need to know and I’ll answer if I can
You definitely want to make sure the barcode is covered when you send your products for FBA. If they accidentally scan the manufacturer barcode when they are prepping the product to be shipped to the customer, you won’t get the sale for it. There will be no record because they didn’t scan the fnsku. We just use white stickers for this. You can actually use some blank sku labels if you want, just cut them down to size. There are plenty of options for stickers to cover your barcode up, just make sure it’s covered. If it’s a case where you can place the fnsku sticker over the barcode, you may do that too. I only do this when I don’t need to poly bag/box the product.
Applying Amazon’s FNSKU label over any residue or old barcodes can lead to scanning errors and shipment issues. Amazon’s fulfillment centers use automated systems to scan barcodes, and any inconsistencies can result in delays or penalties.

For sticky residue this works great. It even works on paper tags without leaving a trace.
