Amazon UK is asking for the 'country of origin' for products

Do they want to know where we purchased the item or the country where the brand manufactures it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I always use the place of manufacture. I sell books and sometimes a publisher in one country may publish a book in a country other than where they are based. When that happens, on the verso of the title page, there is often a statement such as “Printed in [country name.]”

“Country of origin” can never be where you purchased it. It is always the place of manufacture.
