Amazon Solution Provider Portal (SPP) Registration & Approval Guide

What is the Solution Provider Portal (SPP)?

The Solution Provider Portal (SPP) is Amazon’s official platform that allows third-party developers and service providers to register and manage the services they offer to sellers and vendors on Amazon. If you’re offering any kind of third-party service, like advertising support, listing optimization, or brand management—you’ll need to register through SPP to be recognized by Amazon.

Shared Experience – Submission and Approval

Here’s a breakdown of what was submitted for account verification by someone who successfully got approved:

  • Business Type: Pakistani Company
  • Business Name: His actual company name
  • Business Registration Number: This was either pulled from FBR tax documentation or the official company registration number
  • ID Number: CNIC (Front & Back)
  • OTP Verification: Used Skype (Vyke is another option that receives OTPs)
  • ID Proof: Urdu CNIC copy
  • Bank Statement: Payoneer bank statement with matching address (a local bank statement can also work, just ensure the address matches the one you’re registering)

Important note: the address on the ID card and the Payoneer statement matched.

Steps for Document and ID Verification:

You’ll need to upload scanned copies of your CNIC (both sides) or passport (both sides in one PDF), along with a bank statement that includes your registered address. If it’s from a local bank, a signed statement might be required. A video interview follows, where you’ll be asked to display your ID and move it around to prove it’s a physical document.

After Account Verification – Service Request Process:

Once your account is verified, you can start applying for specific services. There are usually two possible outcomes:

  1. Amazon approves your service request without needing a flat file.
  2. Amazon asks you to complete a flat file with justifications for each role requested.

When Amazon Approves Without Flat File:

If your requested permissions are appropriate and limited (e.g., just asking for “Edit” access under Campaign Manager in Amazon Advertising), Amazon may approve the request within a week without further documentation.

When Amazon Requires a Flat File:

In some cases, when applying for services like Enhanced Brand (A+) Content, Amazon opens a case and requests a justification Excel file. This file contains detailed fields for each requested role, such as:

  • Role category and type
  • Whether you really need the role (checkbox)
  • Justification for why the role is required
  • Specific examples of how the role supports your service
  • Any additional optional comments

For roles involving access to personally identifiable information (PII), Amazon expects more thorough justification regarding data usage and protection measures.

Providing Strong Justifications:

When filling out the flat file, structure your responses like this:

  • Role Name: Start with the exact name of the role
  • Why it’s Needed: Describe its importance (e.g., for campaign optimization, listing creation, etc.)
  • Business Use Case: Explain how this role supports your service offering
  • Impact if Not Granted: Mention risks or inefficiencies if the role isn’t approved

Example format:
“The [Role Name] role is necessary for [specific task]. As a service provider focused on [area], this permission is essential to [business need]. Without it, [consequence].”

After File Submission:

Reply to the open case and attach the filled file. Amazon may not grant access to every role you ask for, they usually approve what directly relates to your core service. For instance, if you request order management permissions under A+ Content, they might reject it, but grant access to roles like “Products View” or “Brand Tailored Promotions.”

Final Approval:

After submission, it typically takes 7–8 days to receive a response. In one case, approval was granted, and Amazon provided access only for roles that matched the service scope. Each service request may trigger a unique flat file, so don’t reuse the same file across different services.

Post-Approval Permissions:

Once approved, you can go back and request additional roles if needed. Amazon’s approval message will usually state that the permissions granted are based on qualifications and that sellers can now authorize your access through Seller Central’s User Permissions panel.

Registering on SPP not only helps you gain credibility but also allows you to manage service permissions efficiently across clients as an official Amazon-recognized provider.
