Amazon returned item received but refund still not issued – really need help

Hi everyone,

I’m writing here because I honestly don’t know what else to do and I really need advice.

I ordered an expensive item from Amazon (around $3,850). Due to a delivery issue, we couldn’t find the package at first. After some time, it was located, and we decided to return it. The product wasnever opene, and sent back exactly as it was, in its original box, using Amazon’s return process.

According to both the carrier tracking and Amazon’s system, the item was successfully returned and received.

But here is the problem: the moment the return was marked as received, my Amazon account was restricted. Even after that, I contacted live chat several times and was clearly told there was no problem, that my refund was approved, and that it would be issued. I was even given refund dates, which later got delayed.

Now, suddenly, the refund is not processed at all, and I’m getting different answers every time.
This is $3,850, which is a huge amount for me, and we are in a very difficult situation because of this.

I’m a Prime member and I followed all the rules. I returned the product properly. It just feels very unfair that my account was restricted exactly when the return was completed and now my money is being held.

I’m not trying to blame anyone. I’m just asking for help, fairness, and guidance.
If anyone has gone through something similar or knows what I should do next, I would really appreciate your advice.

Thank you so much for reading.

Hi again,

I’m writing another update because I want it to be clear that I am actively trying to protect my rights, and the longer this situation continues, the more concerned I become.

This issue is not just stressful — it feels like time is being used against me. My refund has still not been processed even though the item was properly returned and confirmed as received, and I’m worried that if this keeps dragging on, it could put me in a situation that is hard or impossible to reverse.

I’m doing everything I can on my side: contacting support, following the rules, asking for clarification, and trying to escalate properly. But instead of clear answers, I keep getting delays and vague responses. That makes me feel powerless, even though I’ve done nothing wrong.

I don’t want conflict. I just want what is fair. This is my money, and holding it for this long without a clear reason feels deeply wrong. I’m honestly scared that if I don’t keep pushing and asking for help, this will simply be forgotten or dismissed.

If anyone here has advice, experience, or knows how to move this forward in a fair way, please help me. I am genuinely trying to stand up for myself, and I don’t want to let this turn into an irreversible loss.

Thank you again to anyone who takes the time to read or respond.

Unfortunately, sadly this situation happens sometimes because of how Amazon’s systems handle returns and refunds rather than because you did anything wrong.

In many cases Amazon’s automated systems or internal return processes can delay refunds even when the carrier tracking and return scan show delivered, and refunds can take up to 30 days or more to fully process once the return is received and verified, especially if there are additional reviews or checks being triggered by the high order value.

Sellers and buyers both report that accounts can show pending actions or delays while Amazon’s internal systems reconcile returns, and in some Seller Central discussions the suggestion is to allow a short period for this automatic processing and then contact support again if it still hasn’t cleared after 30 days, because support can sometimes escalate the case to an internal review team. If you’ve been given different refund dates or vague answers, ask specifically for a case ID and escalation to a higher-level support team so that there’s accountability on the timeline and avoid accepting “system processing” as the final answer.

If repeated contacts don’t resolve it, open a formal complaint or request a supervisor review through Amazon support, citing the order number, return tracking, and screenshots showing the return was received but the refund not completed, and persist until you get confirmation that the refund is being issued or a clear reason it’s held.

What was the item? Over $3,000, I wouldn’t buy anything of this value from Amazon.

Was this ordered directly from Amazon or a third party?
