Hi everyone,

Are you sure the listing was generic?
That is a bit weird. When you add listing to your inventory, do you see error that you can’t add because it generic?
When Amazon joins a listing labeled as “Generic,” even though the product is clearly branded, it’s often because the original listing was either created without proper brand attribution, or the product didn’t have a registered brand in Amazon’s system at the time the listing was made. Sometimes, resellers or dropshippers list branded products as “Generic” to bypass brand restrictions or avoid IP enforcement, and if that listing gains traction, Amazon’s retail team may start sourcing the item themselves and simply match the existing listing, regardless of branding accuracy. Unless the brand is registered with Amazon Brand Registry and has taken steps to correct the listing, Amazon won’t automatically change or enforce brand attribution. If you’re the brand owner or authorized seller, you can submit a listing correction with supporting documentation, but unless Amazon sees a clear violation or trademark concern, they often allow themselves or others to continue selling under the “Generic” name if that’s how the listing was originally structured.
They join based on the UPC / EAN. The brand may get corrected at some point.
I would rather avoid misbranded listings.
