2nd Class Large Signed for question

We sent something using above shipping method bought through amazon but it accidentally wasn’t scanned by the post office when we dropped off (as per the instruction on the label). Wondering what will happen to the parcel, will it still reach the customer?

If the package wasn’t scanned, which is a common scenario, then it doesn’t necessarily mean it wouldn’t be received by the customer. @AmazonUKForumRefugee may be able to help.

I’m not familiar with 2nd class postage as I haven’t used it for a few years now but not being scanned by the receiving post office is irrelevant. I’m not even sure they do ordinarily scan this service.

It will still get there.

Don’t waste your time with “2nd Class Signed For”. Anybody can buy Tracked 48 directly from Click & Drop even if you don’t have a business account.

That’s only reason I used it as it’s only insured option available above the standard (goods are no more than £20 value). We don’t have tracked services as an option when buying shipping, which as you pointed out previously is because we don’t have an RM account linked. (I was going to do this until I learnt you’re invoiced by RM directly and no longer at source by Amazon, which I way prefer, cash flow wise.)

I’ve since had it confirmed by an RM employee that Signed for is scanned on ‘acceptance’ at the PO and scanned again (in theory, but often isn’t) when they ask someone to sign for it. As everyone has since confirmed, it doesn’t prevent it reaching the customer if it misses the ‘acceptance’ scan (and as you rightly say, it isn’t a tracked service anyway which suggests there is no point in the acceptance scan!). The point of it therefore is solely to claim £20 from RM if it does turn into an INR.

“Anybody can buy Tracked 48 directly from Click & Drop even if you don’t have a business account.” so does that mean you’d be using click n drop to buy tracked postage then manually entering the tracking in for every order to maintain vtr? I guess that is the only way forward, for the very low percentage of value orders we do send. Mark as dispatched and manually enter the tracking within 24 hours.

I don’t remember but why don’t you open a personal C&D account and see? If I recall, you can get even the personal C&D to link to your Amazon account and update the tracking automatically.
