Announcement reposted from Amazon Japan:
As we reflect on 2024 and look ahead to 2025, we want to start by thanking you for your partnership and the innovation and customer benefit that we have delivered together. We continue to invest heavily in improving the customer shopping experience as well as in our fulfillment and supply chain services. As a result, we saw better in-stock levels, more products placed closer to customers, and faster Prime shipping speeds.
In 2025, we want to focus on lowering your costs and providing more flexibility, while continuing to work together to delight customers and drive growth for your business.
As a result, we will decrease FBA fulfillment and monthly storage fees for select size tiers, increase the aged inventory surcharge and storage utilization surcharge, andintroduce an FBA Liquidation service to help you recover value from excess inventory.
Over the coming weeks and into 2025, we will continue to invest in our fee-related product experiences – including improving your fee calculators and fee preview tools, so that you can more easily understand and optimize your business.
1. FBA fulfillment fee and tier changes
- Effective April 1, 2025, we will lower FBA fulfillment fees for standard-100, oversize-80, oversize-100, and oversize-120 by at least 71 JPY and up to 194 JPY, depending on the size tier.
- Starting June 1, 2025, we will expand FBA eligibility to include products whose total dimensions exceed 260 cm but remain under 400 cm and 50 kg.
For more information, go to 2025 FBA fulfillment fee changes (Amazon.co.jp).
2. FBA storage fee changes:
- Effective April 1, 2025, we will lower monthly storage fees for oversize and supersize size tiers of non-clothing & accessories, shoes & bags items from 4.370 JPY (per 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm) to 3.278 JPY (per 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm) effective January through September, and from 7.760 JPY (per 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm) to 6.984 JPY (per 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm), effective October through December.
- Effective April 15, 2025, we will increase our aged inventory surcharge for inventory that has been stored more than 365 days to 34.239 JPY (per 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm). To avoid fees, we encourage you to manage your aged inventory by, for example, enabling automatic removals, selling through Amazon Outlet or creating Deals.
- Effective May 1, 2025, we will increase the storage utilization surcharge for sellers whose inventory volume exceeds 26 weeks of their sales volume. The surcharge will also apply to oversize and supersize size tiers, in addition to small and standard size tiers of non-clothing & accessories, shoes & bags items.
For more information, go to 2025 FBA monthly storage fee changes and 2025 FBA aged inventory surcharge changes.
3. Other changes
- Starting March 1, 2025, we will introduce FBA liquidations in Japan, a service that allows you to avoid the aged inventory surcharges or disposal fees and recover a portion of the value from your excess and eligible customer-returned inventory. For more information, go to FBA liquidations.
- Effective April 1, 2025, we will increase our removal, disposal, and FBA prep service fee to better align fees with our operational costs. For more information, go to 2025 JP FBA return, disposal, and FBA prep service fee changes.
