Should I close my listing or leave it out of stock?

Hello,

I have enough stock for 7 days, I have turned of PPC & upped my price, I have a shipment that is coming and once sent in will be available to buy around the 16th so I will be out of stock for around 8 to 10 days.

Would you close the listing or leave it out of stock ?

TIA

No need to close it. Just leave it out of stock.

Is the shipment going directly to FBA, or will you be receiving it first?

I’m sending it directly into FBA, but I am worried about my in-stock rate.

I asked thinking that, if it was shipped to you, you could leave some out and FBM orders until your FBA inventory was available.

I would leave it OOS. Is this a PL or WS product?

Just close the listing temporarily or increase the price.

It’s my own private label product

I don’t see a need to close the listing at all. Assuming since it’s your product that you don’t have competition on the listing. Bad thing about running OOS is that drop in sales rank, and of course you lose your strong buy box position when there is competition on the listing.

Also, we don’t close inactive listings until the return period of the last one sold is over. It’s easier to deal with issues when the listing hasn’t been deleted.

So do you suggest not closing and leaving it active / out of stock ?

Correct, we would not delete this listing. Anything we replenish we treat this way. Only way we delete listings is if we have no stock and are not planning to replenish the product. Again, we do wait for 90 days after the last sale so if we have to deal with a return we can properly deal with it.

Highly recommend doing as @funkymonkey suggests. You will lose search ranking when you run out and the listing is dead. If you are doing FBA ALWAYS have an FBM listing active. Just make sure you hold back enough stock, sometimes you will never regain your search rank.

I 100% agree with this. Even if you don’t have a warehouse, try to always keep 1-2 pcs (depending on your selling volume) in stock in case you need to maintain an out-of-stock FBA listing active.

Why would you close a listing? If it’s out of stock, it doesn’t make any sense. Just leave it like it is.
