I have a brand, ready to launch, I want to set up a branded shop…
I have not officially registered the brand yet. No trade mark etc.
How soon can I get selling on Amazon under my own branded shop?
I don’t just want to be selling under my own name, like ebay… I want a proper shop… As my brand can easily hold its own a brand.
When I go to brand registry it says I need to consault lawyers, or have a trade mark… I don’t have these yet… The whole eco system is very confusing…
Can I set up a branded amazon shop without all this trade mark stuff?
No, you require a trademark. And once you have registered it, you have to wait 2-3 months until it is fully registered and unopposed. Then you can apply for Brand Registry.
You can start selling on Amazon under your brand name without a trademark, but to set up an official Amazon Brand Store and access Brand Registry benefits (like A+ Content, Sponsored Brands, and brand protection), you’ll need a registered trademark. Without it, you’ll be selling as a generic seller under your brand name, similar to eBay, but without the enhanced branding features. If you want to proceed without a trademark, you can create a standard seller account and list products under your brand name, but for a proper branded storefront, you’ll eventually need a trademark. If you’re serious about branding, consider Amazon’s IP Accelerator to speed up trademark registration and get early access to Brand Registry.
Hi, selling as generic is no good if I am acting as a brand, plus I hear it is very difficult to get trademark on amazon after selling as generic, I am being advised to wait to start selling my branded products till I have the official trademark.
With the amount of stress amazon have already given me I just wonder how all these annoying youtube kids who are making deceiving content about ‘get rich quick schemes’ get away with it…
You’re absolutely right, selling as “Generic” can cause issues, especially if you’re building a brand, as it may create complications when registering a trademark or enrolling in Brand Registry later. Waiting until you have your official trademark is a smart move to avoid unnecessary hassles with hijackers or brand protection down the line. As for the misleading “get rich quick” content, unfortunately, a lot of these YouTubers profit from selling courses rather than actually succeeding in e-commerce themselves, leaving new sellers unprepared for the real challenges of selling on Amazon.
Actually, it’s very easy. Just, in order to enter Amazon Brand Registry, you need a minimum “pending” trademark application.
UK trademarks are among the easiest to get. Frequently, they will go through in less than a month.
Then, with a valid trademark, you can hire someone to create A+ content for you and a custom brand storefront for your needs.
This is not true. It doesn’t matter if you sold any products as generics. You just won’t be able to convert any old listings created as generic into branded ones.
In order to create listings covered under Amazon Brand Registry, you will need to apply for a trademark and then join Amazon Brand Registry.
