How do I replace this without getting scammed?

Hi there.

I was in an agreement with someone (friend referred) that was fully managing my store, allowing me to be an absentee owner. In return, she received 25% off store profits. She has decided to offload some customers and I’m one of the unlucky.

This is called a VA (virtual assistant). If you post into my Facebook group saying that you are looking for a VA to hire, you will get many dozens of offers:

Also, to avoid getting scammed, ask for a detailed portfolio, feedback from other clients and don’t engage with any suspicious, newly registered profiles.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to post here whenever you need help.

To replace your store manager without getting scammed, start by clearly defining the role, expectations, and responsibilities in a written contract before hiring anyone new. Look for candidates with a proven track record in managing Amazon stores, preferably with references or case studies of their past work. Avoid upfront payments and opt for a performance-based structure similar to your previous agreement, ensuring the new manager has a vested interest in your store’s success. Consider using escrow or milestone-based payments to minimize risk. You can find potential managers through professional Amazon service providers, LinkedIn, or vetted freelance platforms like Upwork. If possible, negotiate a transition period with your current manager to ensure a smooth handover of operations, access, and insights to avoid disruptions.
